Ingredients:

– 1 liter of milk

– 5 tablespoons of cornstarch

– 4 egg yolks

– 1 cup of sugar (to taste)

– 1 teaspoon of vanilla

– A pinch of salt

 

Preparation Method:

1. **Heat the Milk**:

– In a pot over medium heat, warm the milk, stirring continuously until it begins to boil. Then remove it from the heat.

 

2. **Prepare the Egg Mixture**:

– In a bowl, mix the egg yolks with the sugar, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt until the mixture is smooth.

 

3. **Combine Ingredients**:

– Gradually add the hot milk to the egg mixture while stirring continuously to avoid cooking the eggs.

 

4. **Cooking**:

– Return the mixture to the pot over low heat, stirring continuously until it thickens.

 

5. **Add Vanilla**:

– Once the mixture reaches a creamy consistency, add the vanilla and mix well.

 

6. **Cool the Cream**:

– Place the cream in a bowl, cover it with plastic wrap touching the surface to prevent a crust from forming, and let it cool completely before using.

 

Usage:

– Pastry cream can be used as a filling for cakes, fruit tarts, or as a frosting for desserts.
