Sloppy Joes

Sloppy Joes
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
4 hamburger buns, split and lightly toasted
4 slices Colby Jack or cheddar cheese
1 small onion, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
3/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 3–4 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess grease if needed.
Stir in ketchup, tomato paste, mustard, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
Reduce heat to low and simmer for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thick and saucy.
Place a slice of cheese on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Spoon the hot sloppy joe mixture generously over the cheese.
Add the top bun and serve immediately.
