Irresistible Savory Puff Pastry with Ground Beef and Cheese

Ingredients:

 

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

 

1 lb ground beef

 

1 small onion, finely chopped

 

1 garlic clove, minced

 

1 tsp dried oregano

 

1/2 tsp salt

 

1/4 tsp black pepper

 

1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)

 

1 egg (for egg wash)

 

Preparation:

 

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

 

In a skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.

 

Add chopped onion and garlic to the beef. Cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

 

Stir in oregano, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool.

 

Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface.

 

Spread the cooled beef mixture evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.

 

Sprinkle shredded cheese over the beef mixture.

 

Fold the pastry edges over the filling to form a rectangle or square.

 

Brush the top of the pastry with a beaten egg for a golden finish.

 

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and puffed. Slice and serve!
