Grilled Stone Fruits with Spiced Red Wine Reduction

Juicy grilled peaches, plums, or apricots drizzled with a warm, spiced red wine reduction for a decadent and elegant dessert.

 

Ingredients

For the Grilled Stone Fruits:

4 peaches, plums, or apricots, halved and pitted

1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter

1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

For the Spiced Red Wine Reduction:

1 cup red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot)

1/4 cup honey or brown sugar

1 cinnamon stick

2 whole cloves

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon orange zest

Pinch of black pepper (optional, for depth)

For Garnish:

1/4 cup toasted chopped nuts (pistachios, almonds, or walnuts)

Fresh mint leaves

Vanilla ice cream or mascarpone (optional)

Directions

Make the Spiced Red Wine Reduction:

 

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine red wine, honey (or brown sugar), cinnamon stick, cloves, vanilla extract, orange zest, and black pepper.

Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture reduces by half and thickens slightly. Remove from heat and discard the cinnamon stick and cloves.

Prepare & Grill the Fruit:

 

Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium heat.

Brush the cut sides of the peaches, plums, or apricots with olive oil or melted butter, then drizzle with honey and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Grill cut-side down for 3-4 minutes, until caramelized and slightly softened. Flip and grill for another 1-2 minutes.

Assemble & Serve:

 

Arrange the grilled fruit on a serving plate.

Drizzle generously with the warm spiced red wine reduction.

Sprinkle with toasted nuts and fresh mint leaves.

Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of mascarpone for extra indulgence.
