Fried Green Tomatoes
Ingredients
4 firm green tomatoes
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup cornmeal
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon paprika
Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
Slice the green tomatoes into ½-inch rounds. Pour buttermilk into a shallow bowl. In another bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, salt, pepper, and paprika. Dip each tomato slice into buttermilk, then coat evenly in the cornmeal mixture. Heat about ½ inch of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the tomato slices for 2–3 minutes per side, until golden and crisp. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Serve warm with ranch dressing or remoulade sauce.
