Oven-Baked Tacos

Oven-Baked Tacos
This method is perfect for feeding a crowd because it keeps the taco shells upright and melts everything together beautifully.
Ingredients
Ground Beef: 500g (approx. 1 lb).
Hard Taco Shells: 1 box (10-12 shells).
Shredded Cheese: Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Mozzarella (be generous).
Taco Seasoning: (Cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper).
Tomato Sauce: 2 tablespoons (or salsa).
Optional Mix-ins: Black beans or corn.
Garnish: Fresh cilantro, sour cream, and extra salsa for dipping.
Instructions
Prepare the Filling:
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat until fully cooked.
Drain the excess fat. Stir in the taco seasoning and tomato sauce with a splash of water. Let it simmer for 5 minutes until the flavors meld.
Preheat & Prep:
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
Place the taco shells upright in a 9×13 inch baking dish (like the one in the photo). Crowding them slightly helps them stay standing.
Layering:
Sprinkle a little cheese at the bottom of each shell (this acts as a barrier to keep the shells crunchy).
Spoon the beef mixture into each shell.
Top generously with the remaining shredded cheese.
Baking:
Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and melted, and the shells are lightly toasted.
Serving:
Remove from the oven and top with fresh cilantro. Serve immediately while hot.
Pro Tip: Add a layer of refried beans at the bottom of the shells before the meat for extra heartiness and flavor
