Chicken and Dumpling

 

Ingredients:

– **Chicken breast** (about 500 grams)

– **Chicken broth** (4 cups)

– **Carrots** (1 cup, diced)

– **Celery** (1 cup, diced)

– **Onion** (1 medium onion, chopped)

– **Garlic** (2 cloves, minced)

– **Peas** (1 cup, fresh or frozen)

– **Salt and pepper** (to taste)

– **Herbs** (such as thyme and rosemary, optional)

 

#### Dumpling Ingredients:

– **Flour** (2 cups)

– **Milk** (1/2 cup)

– **Baking powder** (2 teaspoons)

– **Butter** (3 tablespoons, melted)

– **Salt** (1/2 teaspoon)

 

### Preparation Method:

 

1. **Prepare the Chicken and Vegetables:**

– Place the chicken breast in the slow cooker with the chicken broth.

– Add the carrots, celery, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper.

– Cover the mixture and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.

 

2. **Make the Dumplings:**

– In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.

– Add the milk and melted butter, and mix until a smooth batter forms.

 

3. **Add the Dumplings to the Soup:**

– After cooking the chicken, remove it from the pot and shred into pieces.

– Stir in the shredded chicken and peas.

– Using a spoon, drop spoonfuls of the dumpling batter into the soup.

– Cover and cook on high for an additional 30-40 minutes, or until the dumplings are cooked through.

 

4. **Serving:**

– Serve the chicken and dumplings with fresh herbs if desired.
