Baked Beans Southern Style

Ingredients:
4 cups canned navy beans, drained and rinsed
6 slices bacon, chopped
1 small onion, finely diced
1/2 green bell pepper, finely diced
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons molasses
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a baking dish.

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving a small amount of bacon drippings in the pan.

Add the diced onion and green bell pepper to the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until softened.

In a large bowl, combine the drained navy beans, cooked bacon, sautéed onion and bell pepper, ketchup, brown sugar, molasses, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Stir until well mixed.

Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.

Bake uncovered for 45 to 60 minutes, or until the beans are thickened and bubbly around the edges.

Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm as a classic Southern side dish perfect for barbecues, potlucks, or Sunday suppers.f
