Amish Sour Cream Cornbread

Ingredients:

1 cup cornmeal

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup sugar

1 tbsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup sour cream

1/2 cup milk

1/4 cup melted butter

2 large eggs

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.

In another bowl, whisk together the sour cream, milk, melted butter, and eggs until smooth.

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined. Do not overmix.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean and the top is golden.

Let it cool slightly before serving.

Optional Add-ins:

You can mix in cheddar cheese, corn kernels, or chopped jalapeños for additional flavor.
